Therapedic International

Therapedic International was founded in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1957. Beginning with one licensee in North Brunswick, NJ, they are now a global company with 13 licensees in the United States and 22 in 15 other countries on all inhabited continents. Therapedic founder, George Gershaw, a World War II veteran, created the concept of international licensees.

Therapedic makes "more than just mattresses." Their bedding products line also includes blankets, pillows, mattress pads, and toppers. Therapedic's end users include both consumers and hospitality businesses.

Although it is a global company, Therapedic still hand-crafts its mattresses, believing that this is what produces the highest quality product. Somehow, even with handcrafting, Therapedic International mattresses are priced lower than many equivalent brands. Considering the complexity of modern mattresses, it is not surprising that fashioning mattresses by hand can be competitive with those made by automated machinery (this writer worked for two decades in manufacturing industries).
