Shipping Policy



How much is the delivery?

We are committed to provide our customers quick delivery within 1—5 business days (delivery time are contingent upon product availability). We will contact you within 48 hours after order is placed to confirm the order and set up delivery.

Basically, there are two ways we deliver our products:

Functional Furniture NYC Delivery

Nationwide Shipping

For Nationwide Delivery we usually use UPS Ground, UPS Freight, FedEx, USPS or other Common Carriers. These shipping carriers deliver orders within 3-5 business days from the date the order was picked-up from our warehouse. We will send you the tracking information as soon as it becomes available.

Shipping starts from just $129 for East Coast and $199 for West Coast deliveries of furniture items.

Common Carriers do not provide any inside delivery or setup. UPS Ground, FedEx and USPS are responsible for the curbside delivery only. They will bring the package to your door, but won't bring it inside. You will find the date of delivery in your tracking information.

If your pieces can only be delivered by UPS Freight (due to their size or weight), UPS will contact you as soon as your package arrives to the terminal near you. You will be able to set up the date and time frame of delivery with your local UPS Freight representative. You are required to meet the delivery truck in front of your home, and you are responsible for receiving the product from the truck. Be Alert! UPS Freight only arranges deliveries on the weekdays (Monday through Friday).

So please make necessarily arrangements to have someone who will help you bring your package inside and set it up. Or...

White Glove Platinum Service

If you want your items delivered, assembled and setup — we have an option for you. We provide White Glove Platinum Service within all contiguous US. It will cost you somewhat $100 more than a regular shipping by Common Carriers. But with White Glove Service option your items will be delivered, brought inside your house or apartment and fully set up. Also White Glove Service includes clean out of the junk left after item's setup.

Local Delivery in New York and New Jersey

In-Store Pick-up is the best way to get your items if you live in New York and have a car. You will be able to come take your packages as soon as they arrive to one of our warehouses. For pick-up visit one of our Showrooms located in New York City. You can arrange local pick-up in comments section at checkout. All In-Store Pick-ups are FREE.

For local deliveries in New York and New Jersey we use our own trucks making it faster and cheaper to bring your order to you. Please allow up to 2 business days for delivery based on availability.

Inside Delivery no Assembly

Inside Delivery with no Assembly option is available in:

  • New York City (5 Boroughs), NY
  • Hudson County, NJ

Inside Delivery is FREE on orders over $599 and $49 on orders under $599. Free Inside Delivery excludes weekends. Our delivery guys will bring your items inside your house or apartment but won't unpack or assemble them. Additional handling charges may apply. Commonly we only add charges for the flights of stairs in multi-storey buildings with no elevator.

White Glove Delivery and Assembly

White Glove Delivery is provided in New York and New Jersey areas. Our delivery guys will bring your items inside your house or apartment, unpack them and remove debris. If you choose White Glove Service with Assembly — they will provide up to 30 minutes of assembly and set up for extra $40. Additional assembly is extra. Your delivery price will depend on the zone and the weight of ordered items.

Some Items may have additional assembly fees. You can calculate delivery price prior to checkout at your shopping cart. How will my order ship?

All deliveries will be made by a carrier chosen by Functional Furniture NYC. If the customer specifies a delivery company, we will attempt to use that company. If for reasons of size, weight, timing, or any other reason determined by our shipping department, the package may be shipped with a shipping company of the shipping department choosing. Delivery will be by the carrier’s normal delivery method. For example, UPS will deliver to your door; if no one is home, and the shipper has a policy not to leave packages without a signature, you can reschedule, but UPS and many other shippers will not set up an exact time to meet you at your door. Many oversize items "too large for UPS" will be sent via delivery truck that will only get the item to the "sidewalk". You will need to carry the item into your home. This is common in New York City and other areas with "High Rise" buildings.

The delivery companies will only give an approximate time period, which sometimes can be an entire day. You will have to make arrangements to receive the package or have someone at your home or business to receive the package. Please note that UPS and many other delivery companies charge a surcharge for Saturday deliveries. If you would like to arrange a Saturday delivery, please email for additional pricing. If a recipient is notified of a delivery date, and the recipient is not there to meet the shipper and accept the package, the recipient will be responsible for any and all "redelivery" charges that may apply.

Outside of the 48 Continental U.S. shipping will be extra depending on the zip code location. Any items shipped out of the continental 48 United States will require the customer to pay for any and all shipping of any replacement or missing parts regardless of cause. If it is necessary for damaged parts to be returned to Functional Furniture NYC, the shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.

White Glove Freight
White glove delivery is available for most seating and furniture products and includes delivery, set up, and trash haul away. If you need old chairs and desks hauled away as well, please let us know so that they can be included in your quote for white glove services.

In all cases the shipper will not hookup any electrical or component wires. Having items carried up more than 25 steps and longer assembly periods are available as additional services which would require additional charges. Please contact us if you feel you need these services.

When your order arrives at the delivery agent closest to your home or office, you will be contacted by a scheduling clerk for a delivery appointment. The appointment is typically a 2-5 hour window, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Saturday deliveries are not always possible.

When will my order arrive?

You will be contacted shortly after placing your order with shipping information specific to your order and to schedule your delivery if applicable. Most of the products are available for next day shipment. Be sure to consult the product's Lead Time before you order with expedited shipping, and call us if you have any questions or concerns.

Occasionally, certain items sell out of stock and become back ordered. Shipping times vary depending on the manufacturer and your proximity to the warehouse. For items that are out of stock, we will let you know the approximate date when the items will be delivered. You should remember that the estimated Lead Time still applies before the item ships out.

For White Glove shipments, delivery usually takes between 1 and 4 weeks from the time the items leave the warehouse. Your order will travel through a nationwide network of professional moving companies who will handle your item(s) with the utmost care. You will be contacted for a delivery appointment when your order reaches the delivery agent. Although the items are handled carefully throughout transit, we require that our orders undergo a thorough inspection at the delivery agent before delivery. We take extra steps to make sure your item is delivered in perfect condition.

Cancellation Policy

Once the order is placed and confirmed with Functional Furniture NYC, our process is to submit an order directly to the manufacturer on your behalf. This typically occurs within a 24-hour period after an order is confirmed by the customer. Once this step has been completed Functional Furniture NYC, and thus the customer, become financially obligated to purchase the ordered merchandise from the manufacturer.

For this reason, we don't accept order cancellations once the 48-hour window has passed. At the time an order is placed the customer receives a notification via e-mail describing all order details. It is the customer’s responsibility to verify that the information in this e-mail receipt is correct. We give you up to 48 hours to review your e-mail confirmation and reply with any discrepancies or changes at no charge. If the customer does not notify us of any changes within the 48-hour window after the confirmation Functional Furniture NYC will proceed with ordering the merchandise from the manufacturer. Any cancellation of the order after this point will need to follow the Cancellation Policy as described below.

Any exception to this Cancellation Policy will be solely at the discretion of Functional Furniture NYC management. In the event that Functional Furniture NYC management agrees to proceed with the cancellation of an order, the customer may be responsible for a cancellation or restocking fee according to the Return Policy as well as any shipping and handling fees that may apply. In order for a cancellation to be addressed, the customer must submit the request in writing via e-mail to cancelorder@functionalfurniturenyc.com. Please note that only written requests for cancellation will be processed by Functional Furniture NYC.

In case you have to cancel the local NY or NJ delivery that was scheduled for the order - contact Functional Furniture NYC at least 48 hours before the delivery time frame. Otherwise you will be charged the delivery fee and your delivery will be rescheduled.

If for any reason you have not received an item within 4 weeks, and if you desire to cancel the transaction, we will gladly refund 100% of your purchase price at your request, provided that the item is not currently in transit to or from our shipping facility. If them item has a stated shipping time of more than 4 weeks, then the time frame necessary for cancelation to be permitted shall be the longest shipping time stated plus 25%. For example, if the shipping time is stated at 8 weeks, a cancellation will be permitted if more than 10 weeks have elapsed in accordance with the other conditions stated herewith. You must call or email us to let us know that you would like to cancel your order. Orders may not be canceled prior to receiving the items unless the terms above regarding the delivery timeframe have not been met. Refused, returned or canceled shipments that are not and/or will not be accepted by the customer for any reason, including non-payment, are subject to restocking fee according to the Return Policy plus the cost of the shipping and return shipping if applicable.

Damages

On the rare occurrence items could be damaged in shipment. You MUST inspect the product and any packaging you see at the time of delivery. If there is any damage to either the product or the package, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write "PRODUCT DAMAGED" clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.

If an item is received damaged, do not immediately refuse the item. Determine the extent of the damage and note this with the delivery person and on the delivery invoice, then call or e-mail sales within 24 hours of receipt of the item. We will file any damage claims necessary and get the necessary replacement parts sent out to you ASAP. You are responsible to save the damaged items either until someone comes to pick them up or inspect the damage, at our discretion. If you refuse the item, you will be responsible for the return shipping and the shipping of any replacement items plus any cancelation fees as applicable.

Return Policy

We are so sure that you will love our quality products. That's why we offer you our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with any single item purchased (excluding clearance specials, items sold as-is, custom or special orders), you may return the item for a refund within 30 days from the day you receive the item, no questions asked. The refund amount will be the full purchase price of the item less a 20% restocking charge. Shipping and handling cannot be reimbursed, so please be aware that if you are purchasing a product that has Free Shipping then actual shipping costs will be deducted from your return refund. New York residents will also be charged 8.875% sales tax to their orders.

All custom and special orders are final sales and cannot be exchanged or returned.

International Shipping

If ordering from Canada, Alaska or Hawaii there may be additional shipping charges. We will contact you with details if additional shipping / handling is due before processing your order. Not all items can be shipped and sometimes a freight forwarder is needed, at the additional expense of the customer.

If it is necessary for damaged parts to be returned to Functional Furniture NYC, the shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.
